Yesterday we took a day trip with my sister to Norrtälje, a small town 6 Swedish miles north of Stockholm. The reason for going there was that it has been a wish of my sister for a long time now to visit their famous Café “En liten smula” (means “A little crumb”).

The Café has an award winning owner, Therese Wikström – one of Swedens best pastry chef’s. Therese has worked in first class restaurants in both Sweden and other countries and have had Jan Hedh as mentor, which is a pastry chef Master and has World championships titles in the baggage. She has won prizes every year in row now.

When she was working on a restaurant in New York, she introduced the Swedish Semla on the menu as a dessert. The americans loved it. (Read what a semla is: Lifecruisers Semla)

This is a very small Café in a very old town house and the rooms are decorated like your visiting someone in their home, giving a very comfy feeling. We sat in the kitchen. Even though we didn’t find her best masterpeices in the Café, there still was a lot of delicious things – don’t you agree…?

Wow those look good! I think I just blew my diet by looking at them. I’ll have to go console myself with the chocolate fondue my friends and I will be eating tonight. Hmm, that might be counter-productive. Should taste awfully good though.

Robin from Israel (brand new to TT)

Lifecruiser: Warmth welcome Robin :-) Well, OK, that chocolate fondue didn’t sound so bad that either…. *droooling*

Mmmmmm… when IIIII come to Sweden, you MUST take me there! I want that chocolate and blackberry thing! And now you have me wondering… are Swedish Miles different from “other miles”???

Lifecruiser: Of course Melli!!! With pleasure!!!

    Yes, your 1 mile = 1.609 344 kilometer. Our “mil” = 10 km.

Since 1889 when the metric system were finally introduced here, when we say 6 swedish miles, that’s actually 60 km, not quite like yours 6 miles huh? *lol*

So that should be 37,5 miles of yours with other words :-)

What a clever entry to TTT. I’m not at all tempted, as I don’t eat cakes, unless I have to. :-) )

But when in Norrtälje, hm, I might pop in here, ONLY because of these wonderful pictures. Just to check out if they are real or not. LoL.

By the way: Thursday is MY day. The English don’t even know to write or pronounce it correctly. It is TORsdag; rember that.

Lifecruiser: Sure… *lol* Yes, we’ll remember torsdagar from now on ;-)

Those look sooo good. Up here in the mountains fried pie is considered “gourmet” pastry. Normal sweets like pies and cakes are pretty good. But I can really go for stuff like you can bet at the “little crumb”.

Lifecruiser: Fried pie… OK, I’ll guess it would do too in case of emergencies ;-)

That’s “get” but you can “bet” I’d like one of those things with the rose in the center.

Lifecruiser: Yes, that is a “sweetie” huh? *lol*

Yummy they all look delicious. But my fear is the weight I might gain if I gaze too long up on them. The one in the second column third down looks like little sweet boobs for the taking! Hmmm….hubby would like those!!

Lifecruiser: He he… yes, I also got this association :-)

Looking at those pictures makes me want these Swedish cakes for dessert every breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper! They look super yummy, and I love (adore) European cakes!

Lifecruiser: You should only see the smorgas cakes we can do over here…. *teasing you* (That’s something that I really drool over!!!!)
