This post immediately caught my attention.

The latest human rights document is the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). It is quite comprehensive. It is also unique in that addresses the right to leisure — sports and tourism. I posted a bit about it here at Boots ‘n All and my blog.

The important thing is never give up hope, never give up trying to help and never give up trying to make people see.

Its so easy to forget when you live in a country like Norway and Sweden, where everything is safe and nothing to worry about.

Thank for taking your time to digg into this and give us a readable post.

Btw: here from Tor and say Happy Birthday to Mr. Lifecruiser!

Thank you for reminding us that just because we feel safe in our own little world doesn’t mean the world is a safe place. Millions of people have their rights compromised every day, and as you say although the first we think of is Darfur and other war torn countries, we must be aware that also in the west we have to keep an eye on our officials, ourselves, and our brothers and sisters.

The poor guy has been talking about Darfur since before anyone knew there was genocide going on there, and he has some really shocking insights and first-hand accounts.

Let me tell you the following very relevant to what you here posted:

In 1989 we were in a tiny French Village (Balazuc) on July 14. In fact with family from Denmark.
What did they celebrate?
The Village xx century?
The French Revolution?

No-no

They did celebrate to bi-centenial anniversery for the declaration of the Humans Rights A Village with about 200 people living there all year round.

They had written, on a large board at the Village Place the following (I try my best to translate to English)

“We that do live here on this planet in 1989, we must accept the Fact that the Humans Rights are not was hoped for in 1789.
You, that will read this one hundred years from now, we hope you have progressed more than we have done in two hundred years.”

I never forget – such a small community adressing the most important message. But where were the media’s? No sensation. grrr.

thanks for reminding

— and we shall never, ever give up the struggle for Peace and Human Rights. Never.

hugs
