We were late as usual and suddenly realized that we better not go to bed at all, so we packed the car and did hit the road instead – around 2.30 in the morning!

The thought was to rest and have coffee break after just a couple of hours driving. And how did that go?? Not so well because we couldn’t find any place open at night to buy that coffee… We had to stop and sleep in the morning instead, so yesterday night we were exhausted and only slept at our booked countryside B&B, getting fresh ecological eggs from their hens for breakfast in the morning.

Today when you read this, we’re on the next trip leg: from Rödby, Denmark through Germany to next stop in Westernieland, the Netherlands, which is approx. 500 km.

Those two first days are our longest in the car, mainly transport distances, no regular sightseeing other from very short moments. We have been here before. After this, the sightseeing starts…

Don’t forget to keep an eye on Lifecruiser Europe roadtrip 2012 Flickr Photos too, we will continue to upload our photos as soon as we got the time to do it – and working, fast enough wifi.

Europe Trip Preparations: Camera Gears http://lifecruiser.org/archive/europe-trip-preparations-camera-gears/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/europe-trip-preparations-camera-gears/#comments Tue, 19 Jun 2012 13:22:03 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=11507 Yet another Europe trip preparation: getting my camera up and ready to shoot breathtaking (hopefully!) travel photos from different countries and places during our long Europe trip. At least the scenery will be breathtaking, my photos might not be as good as the live version…

Lifecruiser Travel Canon EOS 600D camera

Photo of my camera above taken with my iPhone, it is a Canon DSLR. A Canon EOS 600D with a Sigma AF 70-300/4-5.6 DG OS lens, a new UV-filter (to protect), new lens cap with a holder (I lost the original almost at once *sigh*) plus a new extra battery too.

I almost always end up buying my camera gears at cyberphoto.se. No, I’m not paid to say that, it’s just how it is. They always have everything I’m searching for plus that I love their honest test reviews and ratings.

My camera equipment fits in a smaller Golla Generation Mobile camera bag. As little as possible to carry is my photo philosophy, because I get severe neck pain otherwise.

No extra memory card? No, because we will have our Canon Powershot S5 IS plus Canon Ixus 80 IS with several memory cards with us too – and we also have our mobile cameras, an iPhone 4S (which camera I’m very pleased with!) and a HTC Incredible S.

On top of that we plan to backup our photos to both Flickr and Lifecruiser’s new Travel Notebook PC.

If we lose any photos anyway: then we have to do this trip all over again, won’t we? Ha ha…

Another meetup for the Europe road trip http://lifecruiser.org/archive/another-meetup-for-the-europe-road-trip/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/another-meetup-for-the-europe-road-trip/#comments Fri, 04 May 2012 21:20:06 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=10517 This is just a short update on our Europe trip for this summer, when we’re going to drive from Stockholm, Sweden to Provence, France. 7500 km if not counting potential detours. Another meetup is planned besides the already decided ones. This meetup is with Tink in IJmuiden!

If you have been blogging for quite a while, you’ll recognize the blogger name Tinkerbell. A really nice blogger friend indeed, which just the other day happily agreed to do a meetup with us one day during our Europe road trip when we’re passing her area in IJmuiden, the Netherlands.

We’re delighted that she and her hubby (plus lovely dogs!) want to meet us after those years of blogging exchange and I’m sure we will have a wonderful time together at the gorgeous beaches in the area. We will enjoy it tremendously!

Lifecruiser Travel Blog 7 Year http://lifecruiser.org/archive/lifecruiser-travel-blog-7-year/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/lifecruiser-travel-blog-7-year/#comments Tue, 03 Apr 2012 16:05:19 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=9451 Today is Lifecruiser Travel Blog’s birthday. Lifecruiser.com domain name and blog has existed for 7 blogging years, building up a rather big library with articles during the years, becoming wellknown by many persons online, building up a good reputation with many awards and readership.

Fårö snacks, Sweden

Lifecruiser.com domain name has existed since 01 Apr 2005 11:52:00, but the blog was not installed and ready to post on until the 3rd of April 2005. We have been two to write the posts, at least two minds even if it’s only one that has used the keyboard…

It has been fun, interesting, exciting and educating 7 years for sure and you know what?

This is NOT a post to tell you that I’ve decided to quit blogging, as so many others have done. No, the Lifecruiser.com domain name is paid until 01 Apr 2016 10:52:00, so you will have to stand with me for a long time yet even if the blogging phenomena would become dead long before Lifecruiser!

Lifecruiser’s first year of blogging

Our first year blogging was more to just have fun and maybe a bit childish, but we did have an awesome time online with our blogger friends around the world!

Just have a look at the titles of the posts in the list of our 1-years celebration, you will guaranteed smile – and giggle if you also take the time to read them: Lifecruiser Blog 1 Year.

Lifecruiser Photo Focused Blog

From being just a fun blog, it slowly developed in another direction:
Lifecruiser Photos did take over the main focus for quite a while during the years and after a while it kinda naturally did glide over to be most travel photos as we were traveling extremely much for several years.

Lifecruiser Cyber Cruise Parties

For a while when we were not able to travel for several reasons, I even started a Cyber Cruise, a kind of blog carneval, where we did visit each others travel/cruise blogposts as if we were participating in each others trips.

- and oh, did we have a lot of cruise parties! The Champagne were flooding…!

It was also that way we met some of our dearest blogger friends (YOU?!), which we also have met in real life many of them by now too and some several times. Internet is a great place to make new friends you should never have been aware of otherwise.

The birth of the real Lifecruiser Travel blog

It was not until after quite a while the real travel articles showed up here – when we had time to contemplate our trips and sort the travel photos properly. And voila! A travel blog were born!

The travel articles and photos has mostly been about and from our trips within Europe, but also some about North America and South America, mixed with our more close to home destinations and of course much from Scandinavia, Sweden, Stockholm and Gotland – our summer paradise island.

Our perhaps best travel articles are not yet written, I’m sure… Maybe they will be this year…?

Lifecruiser Travel Blog’s future plans

We do have our usual summer island trip planned as well as a cruise to St Petersburg soon and a more interesting Europe trip by car planned… but what are our plans for the future for Lifecruiser Travel Blog generally?

Obviously more travel reports as well as travel photos, though I think it will be of even more quality from now on. More serious travel advices, tips, reports and selected photos with better quality.

How about you? Are you planning to continue blogging for long too? Tell us all about your plans!

Happy Birthday Cheers, my dears…

French Food Postcard: La Soupe Au Pistou http://lifecruiser.org/archive/french-food-postcard-la-soupe-au-pistou/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/french-food-postcard-la-soupe-au-pistou/#comments Mon, 19 Mar 2012 18:50:11 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=6714 If you are interested in cooking and especially traditional local food, France is of course an excellent choice to find a lot of yummy recipe’s. I couldn’t resist taking photos of some very French recipe postcards while we were there last time.

French Food Postcard: Recipe La Soupe Au Pistou

As long as it doesn’t get too weird for us, we always enjoy to taste the local food when out traveling. The French food is a tourist attraction alone.

We’re spoiled: We’ve got an excellent chef in our host Pierre in Provence. Yes, we’re planning to visit Claudie and Pierre in August again. Driving our car all the way down in Europe.

The route is not completely planned yet, but I’ll tell you this: we will try to meetup with some others too – we will tell you all about it later.

The Best Mobile and iPad Plugin For WordPress Without Doubt! http://lifecruiser.org/archive/the-best-mobile-and-ipad-plugin-for-wordpress-without-doubt/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/the-best-mobile-and-ipad-plugin-for-wordpress-without-doubt/#comments Sun, 11 Mar 2012 14:22:29 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=6560 The number of persons only visiting internet through their smartphones or tablets devices are increasing heavily. You might be missing out of them because of the lack of mobile version of your WordPress blog. Now we can relax: just found the best mobile & iPad plugin for WordPress without any doubt.

advertisment

If you haven’t installed a mobile and iPad plugin for WordPress yet, it is really high time to consider it. The future is all about mobility, just look at the young people in your surroundings: how do they use internet? Yes, mainly by their mobile devices.

For a long time now, we have been thinking about getting a mobile plugin for our WordPress Blog software for Lifecruiser.com, but not really found someone that live up to our criteria for such an important plugin. Until now – WPtouch Pro impressed us from the first second we had installed it!

Earlier we have seen other solutions, to create and add customized themes to be able to read the blog properly in the mobile. WPtouch Pro does it all automatically for Android, iOS or iPad, without you have to do anything other than some settings – if you want too.

I found it so super easy to install – and to configure settings, icons to use etc. Almost anyone can do it, it is such a breeze!

My earlier researches did show a lack of customization, while WPtouch offers so many highly useful configuration options. I highly recommend the Pro version, it’s worth the money if you’re serious about your blogging and want your blog to stay alive ahead.

For us travelers it is even more useful, to be able to make a fast & easy check up on our blog during a trip is essential to us.

I will write a more detailed review of the WPtouch Pro mobile plugin for WP later, but the plugin impressed me so much, that I instantly had to tell you all about it!

This is a must plugin to have! It will only take you a few minutes to have it up and working!

Why not try it out by visiting Lifecruiser.com in your mobile phone and add us like a WebApp on your homescreen to easier find us again? (I just LOVE that feature!)

Disclosure: I purchased the WPtouch Pro plugin with my own money. This is NOT a sponsored review, it is my honest opinion. You can show me some appreciation for the tip by clicking my linked image below to purchase this plugin, so I get an affiliate commission. I would love you for that!

French Riviera Boat Fleet Meet http://lifecruiser.org/archive/french-riviera-boat-fleet-meet/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/french-riviera-boat-fleet-meet/#comments Fri, 02 Mar 2012 19:07:01 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=6313 When we were on our roadtrip at the French Riviera 2009, we had many very scenic opportunities. One of the most characteristic views is this French Riviera style boat fleet meet in the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea.

France: French Riviera boat fleet meet

I wouldn’t mind at all too lay anchored there either…. How about you? *dreaming*

It might be Cannes or Nice you can see parts of in the opposite side of the sea in the horizon, I’m not sure, but we did drive through there.

As you might guess, we’re now longing badly for our Europe trip later this year, when we’ll meet our blogger friends once again in Provence.

Planning of our drive down there is about to start, so we’ll definitely have fun planning too!

Last nights dinner photos http://lifecruiser.org/archive/last-nights-dinner-photos/ http://lifecruiser.org/archive/last-nights-dinner-photos/#comments Sat, 25 Feb 2012 20:32:23 +0000 Lifecruiser http://lifecruiser.org/?p=6214 One of the main things at our blogger meetups is the dinner times together, not only to just meetup, but to share different cooking and dinner tasting opportunities with each other. Some times localities, other times just great food without any connection to our different locations.

This time we were Swedish and Norwegian bloggers meeting up and perhaps our food habits are not that far away from each other since our countries are neighbors, but still it can differ.

In the photo below there is a little starter we made for us all, our own favorite shrimp cocktail with Champagne onion and a sparkling Cremant to drink with it.

mariestad-shrimp-cocktail

We had to make a pause between the starter and the main course though, to really enjoy the food better.

This course, Anna and Renny had been preparing for us and it were an authentic old fashioned long-cook meat dinner with wine to go with it.

mariestad-annas-steak

Yes, it was delicious – as always!!! We’re spoiled. It’s not always you get the chance to have long-cooked meals nowadays when everything is fast food.

More photos will come. Today we left Mariestad and the others and went home again. We did get home safe and sound, the roads were excellent, dry and empty.

Next trip? Who knows, it will be a surprise – maybe even for ourselves… *giggles*
