Some times when out shopping, you may stumble upon something that is hard to resist to buy: this time it was a very retro cool vintage travel suitcase in a second hand shop in Stockholm City. Oh, it was so tough to resist! Only 275 SEK…

Though I was convinced by hubby that we have very new suitcases, plus our old ones, so we really don’t need another one. Besides that we were in a hurry so not much time to think about it. We bought no suitcase. Afterward I almost did regret it… *sigh*

I know, it’s not beautiful and perhaps not even so very practical, but I really love the idea of travelling around with such an old suitcase, probably from the sixties or seventies.

I doubt that anyone would want to steal it either – or take the wrong suitcase at the airport, so that would be a huge plus, don’t you think…?

Working? No, holiday!

This was a text on a T-shirt in one of the clothes stores down at Visby town, Gotland island where we have been several times during our holiday now. The text in English means: Working? No, holiday! And that is exactly what we’re having!

The text "Jobbe?? Naj semesta" is actually Authentic Gotlandic and not pure Swedish. Gotland island also have it’s own very old language called Gutamål, which can be quite difficult to understand even for us Swedes sometimes.

The Perfect birthday gift: a new suitcase for a trip

Recently we did give Jane an early birthday present. The perfect birthday gift for one that have a trip planned, like she has. She is going back to Brazil in the end of July, this time to stay at least a month – lucky one!

If you have looked at our FB account you may have seen it already, but I couldn’t resist posting it here too. She was really happy over it and it’s a brilliant color, don’t you think…?

When out traveling you get to see all kind of things, even in the most touristy shopping areas. Sunglasses most be a very common shopping item, but maybe not as wild crazy looking as those one, or what do you say? I love those funny ones!

Which ones would you choose? I probably would choose all three in the top row, wearing them matching my clothes that day. Yes, I’m that silly! Hi…hi…

Saint Petersburg Souvenirs

We have so many travel photos to sort from our Baltic Cruise from Stockholm to St Petersburg, that I have to throw in a post in between with just the souvenir photos from a souvenir shop in St Petersburg.

What could be more typical Russian, than those Russian Matryoshka dolls with former Soviet leaders?

The first Russian nested doll set was carved already in 1890, so it’s along tradition for sure, but since the 1990s matryoshka dolls have been facing a downward spiral, so it may stop eventually when there is no one left with the skills.

Did I buy any souvenir? No, I make my own souvenirs with the photos I take! You can see all Lifecruiser St Petersburg Souvenir Photos in Flickr.

Shopping Photo: Levis Couch

When I was younger I would have loved to have this Levis jeans covered couch I found in a clothes store in Stockholm the other day – wouldn’t you? I love creative furniture like this one, when the designer has gone outside the usual frames.

I’ve seen bags made of jeans before, but never a couch, have you? Let me know if you have found any other interesting and unusual designed things.

Perfect for the traveler: Vespa

What could be a more tempting picture for a traveler like me than to see this Vespa scooter with a bag on the back in this shop window in Stockholm lately? I was severe tempted to break into the display and take it out for a long roadtrip…

If the weather was not so lousy here, that could have become more tempting than would be healthy for me…. lol…

Unusual Stockholm Shopping: Owl Handbags

When we were out shopping the other day I found these unique owl designed handbags in a Stockholm shop. Loved the creative side of it, but not really sure who would like one? Would you want one?

I think I have noticed that more creative designed things is popping up nowadays, is it because a generation shift in the design niche perhaps? What do you think?

Shop Windows: Makeup and Wig Store

There are a store specialized on makeup, wigs and all kind of cool stuff related to that, in Stockholm: Smink och perukmakaren. They have hundreds of wigs there. We did buy our 18th century wigs there and they fixed the hairstyles of them.

Now and then, the wigs has to be washed and styled again and this was long overdue this time, so off we went to the store. It’s expensive, but also high quality work.

I love to just have a look around at those kind of places, don’t you? Unfortunately, I were not allowed to share any photos from the inside

Sexy Miss Gotland 1953 Vintage Photo

Out exploring our summer island we found an interesting photo of the beautiful Miss Gotland competition participants in 1953, captured with a Rolleiflex Camera with Zeiss Tessar f/ 3.5 optics according to the text below the photo.

The text also reveals that the photographer took the shot at 3 meter distance with the exposure data of 1/25 second, aperture 8 and used an electron flash. I can’t read the name of the photographer, it says Holmer?t? something.

Just look at their sexy short pants… Oh, my…. *giggles*
