Travel Photo: Traditional French

We always love typical traditional country styles when being abroad, like our bedroom window shutters when we were in Provence, France this August. So charming, don’t you think?

Though they are most charming there and not everywhere else. We love to see different styles everywhere. That is after all what makes traveling so interesting and educating.

Europe trip: Leaving The Champagne district to go to Provence

Some of you, that know us well, might have guessed from the last blog post that we did a stop on our Europe trip in the champagne district. Of course we did a longer stop in Epernay, to visit Moet Chandon and the village where Dom Perignon’s grave is. We would not be the Champagne lovers we are if we did not stop there, right?

Yes, we even did do the Grand Vintage tour at the Moet Chandon and we tasted the Vintage 2002, the blanc (which we have been tasted before) and the Rose. We also did a stop in the store afterward the tour… I say no more…

After that we had a long drive ahead of us to get down to Provence, to our dear friends Claudie and Pierre, where we will have the gathering with our Norwegian blog friends too: the 7th of August.

This time we even got to meet Claudie and Pierre’s daughter, she was not at home the last time we were here. We had a really nice, connecting time. She is a really good vocalist and has also made her own songs (impressive, listen to it!), awesome ones. She might come to Stockholm in the autumn – we really hopes she will come, since we would love to show her around!

Today, we have spent a really nice day together with Pierre, Claudie and her sister and husband in Nice, exploring the old town in Nice. A heaven for us photographers, I tell you!!! Then of course, we always have a great time together with Claudie and her family!! It’s impossible to not have a good time since they are such nice people!!!

Continue to keep an eye on Lifecruiser Europe roadtrip 2012 Flickr Photos too, there are new photos there now and we will upload our photos as soon as we got the time to do it – and working, fast enough wifi. So far, it’s mostly my iPhone photos because it’s easiest that way..

Europe 7500 km roadtrip start!

Our 7500 km roadtrip from Sweden through Europe has already started when you read this pre-scheduled post. We’re driving our own car from Stockholm, Sweden to Provence, France and back again another way through other European countries.

Our first leg of the trip are quite long, about 790 km, click to see it in Google Maps: from Stockholm, Sweden down to Maribo, Denmark, staying overnight there before taking the ferry from Rödby to Puttgarden, Germany where our next leg of the trip will start.

We will try to update more at Facebook or Twitter than here – when finding wifi – so be sure to keep your eyes open…

French Riviera Streetview Photo

Slowly we’re getting through our old French Riviera photos, while waiting for our new trip there will begin within a month. This was such a peaceful, holiday-alike street-view we got somewhere along the way on our road-trip along the French Riviera.

All those old architecture buildings you can find there is truly wonderful and give room for the imagination, don’t you think?

French Riviera Port View of Mr Lifecruiser himself

When we were on a road trip in the French Riviera in 2009, there were so many ports we passed and admired, that I’ve totally forgotten which one this was. And our GPS seem to have forgotten it too, I thought I had it saved in there, but no.

Nevertheless, it was a fantastic stop on the way, very enjoyable – and look who sit there looking out over the port: Mr Lifecruiser himself!

Needless to say, we’re really longing for our Europe trip now and to come to the French Riviera once again, meeting our friends and everything else there and on the way there…

French Wall Painted Sword Man

France seem to have a lot of great wall paintings. We stumbled upon some of them on our French Riviera road trip during 2009. Like this musketeer with his drawn sword ready to defense – one of the most outstanding ones.

I’m very fascinated of how they paint this large paintings, how they "see" the whole picture while painting it…?

Avignon Square Restaurant

When we were in Avignon in Provence, we got very hungry after all the sightseeing – there is so much to see there that we could have gone on for over as it seemed, but we finally realized that it was dinner time and found this charming restaurant at the square below the Palace of the Popes.

I just love those kind of places with such a character – and yes, it was a delicious dinner and well deserved after wandering around all day with our cameras, trying to get as many photos as possible.

World Heritage Site: Avignon Papal Palace

The French World Heritage Site of Avignon did show us this architecturally wonder of the Gothic Papal Palace in the mid of Avignon charming little town. We came just in time to catch the enormous palace before the sunset, on a road trip to explore Provence further.

The Palace of the Popes was built 1335–1364 on a natural spur of rock and is located in Avignon historic center surrounded by ancient preserved ramparts.

We were naturally impressed by this big tourist attraction and tried to take photos in all kind of angles, but it was difficult…

We were too hungry, so we went for dinner instead!

French Riviera One Way

We still have many travel photos that we have not shown you from our French Riviera trip in 2009 and this summer there will be even more to come! This photo below is somewhere from the area at the opposite side of a bay from the Cannes area somewhere.

It’s such a pity when it takes this long time to sort travel photos, because it’s so difficult to remember the places names. We really need to Geotag our travel photos!

One thing that many gives as a reason to go to the French Riviera is for the beaches, not so much for us even though we did visit several beaches during our travel around in Provence. this one is from Nice or Cannes, don’t remember which one.

It look so darn inviting, especially now when we only have early spring her at home in Stockholm. Wish so bad that we were at the French Riviera instead!

We have to wait until August… *sigh*
