So this is the last day in Sanlucar de Barrameda. Tomorrow we leave for our road trip down the coast and Gibraltar and further to Malaga to fly home the 5th of April.
Yesterday we went out in the city to buy some last necessities like more socks and an extra bag to pack some of the clothes we’ve bought down here.
We ended up on a bar at the main square in Sanlucar. We did not plan to drink so much. We started to taste the different kind of Manzanilla sherry’s – despite Mar’s advices to stay away from the Manzanilla because it gives a bad hangover headache…. (well, it’s true!)
After we have tasted two different ones, we ordered Bailey’s and Grand Marnier together with the coffee. The only problem was that their kind of amount of it were completely different from what we’re used to in Sweden.
The top photo shows the grande glass of Baily’s. I almost hesitated if to drink it all, but you know, the Captain has to show some strength. In Sweden Baileys is served in very small glasses and is very expensive, here it costs 4,50 Euro, probably around 18 cl, 40%. Phew!
When we ordered the coffee we thought it was best that we took a grande glass of coffee, sort of to dilute all the alcohol a bit… *giggles*
The bartender had a bit difficulties to understand how big glass of coffe we wanted, it’s quite the opposite of the serving in Spain and Sweden, the Baileys and the coffees – we were mad! we were just laughing and laughing, I’m sure that he thought that we were completely mad Swedes. Which we are!
Just have a look at these glasses, quite a difference hah? *giggles*
They also had the most delicious fresh shrimps we did eat. Yummy, yummy, how fresh all the seafood is over here. (Even though seafood is not my favorite)
I’m very pleased with the fact that we did manage to buy some socks and a bag who actually was good ones when we checked this morning… *giggles*
So, now we have tasted a bottle of sparkling wine, Cava Grand Astoria Brut Seleccion, so if you don’t understand what I write here, it’s because I’m already a bit… ehum… dizzy…
This is also to say goodbye and silence the sorrow. My Mom has passed away. Finally she got peace. It’s very mixed feelings, on one hand it’s very sad and at another hand it’s a relief. I know that it was her will to go and quite frankly – she didn’t have any life quality for the past years actually.
I have wonderful siblings, they have reported all about it during the way and both they and we have felt like we were present. Accoarding to them, she really looked peaceful and my sisters – who has been working as nurses earlier both of them – said that they have never seen any one look so beautiful after passing away.
I’ll always remember her with so much love and admiration. She is my role model for certain!
Captain, so sorry to hear about your mom… It’s hard to comment on this post because of your mom leaving even though it was her will too…My sympathies to you and your siblings.
And because life has sad events but also grande ones, I am happy you got a taste of the Spanish measuring cups, lol! Have a wonderful time in Malaga, go to Marbella to mingle with the rich and beautiful and don’t forget to take your camera along!!
