A spectacular flower mosaic of more than 25,0000 (!) flower bulbs, illustrating the Statue of Liberty will be at Keukenhof Gardens in Holland this spring.
The theme for the year is: USA, New Amsterdam / New York and the 400 years of relationship between US and the Netherlands – which I had totally forgotten that I’ve ever learned about.
In 1609 Henry Hudson founded New Amsterdam commissioned by the West India Company in Holland, which later became New York.
There is also another attraction that’s new for the year: An electric driven, very eco-friendly whisper boat trip you can take for about an hour in the gardens.
It’s actually old gardeners boats, which makes it even more appealing to me.
I’m tempted to go there, but don’t think we can, since we have other plans this year and not enough in the wallets.
I wouldn’t mind at all to sail around almost silent through the stunning bulb garden, getting the best views for camera shooting!

lovely idea- i might just go this year. i’ve wanted to go since the last 3 years but really never make it.. hope i can this year.. let’s hope for a warm, sunny spring
From photos I have seen of Keukenhof, it must be a photographer’s dream. Stunning colours.
Hubby was there with wife #1. At this time, I am thinking I probably won’t get there as Hubby doesn’t want to travel much any more.
That sounds beautiful. My grandson lives in Holland and I want to go and visit him some time. I’ll try to time it when that festival is on.
I was reading about this a couple of days back. The Dutch are even giftiing a new attraction to New York City, built by a design firm called UNStudio, which’ll be on display in New York.
Sounds fantastic. It’s amazing what they can create with flowers!
Nice find. Love that Holland is recognizing their past connection and ownership of NYC.
I just got an idea:
We don’t we go there for some Days During Easter?
And also invite and visit our Dutch Friends – whom you met at the 3×20 party last September?
Even though it does sound wonderful, I have to turn down the suggestion Tor, for several reasons.
1) Flight tickets during Easter always are much more expensive than other no-holiday-times and we need to travel cheaper.
2) We have another trip to plan with Jane, which we don’t know when it’s going to be or what the cost is gonna be yet.
3) Hubby has A LOT OF dentist appointments which is emptying our wallets and making his “well-being” status a bit upside down for a while.
So we don’t dare to book any more trips right now, besides the one we’ve promised Jane already.
We did like your Dutch friends VERY much though, so maybe another time
