When I travel, I travel on a budget. Heading to Thailand in Feb…wish me luck.

I also love to eat local and not what I eat at home. When I was in Istambul we found a nice little Bistro who served Döners, they were delicious and very cheap, so we ate every day different once, tried another place, but came back to the first one.
The hotel were we were served such good fish that we always ate there in the evening on the terrace overlooking Istambul and didn’t go any further after the first day of a very bad experience ! Tourist food, but beautiful restaurant !

I’m really eager to find a special place for food, even at home. So sometimes I keep looking hours, to find out that the first place I saw, is actually the one I want to go, but a hour away. You’re right: Do not pass a restaurant you like.
What I do a lot in restaurants looking at the plates of the others and start asking the waitor, what it is. I even do that at home like in chinese restaurants, because they always have plates, which are not on the menu. Now I found out why: There is always a chinese menu, which is different to the for locals menu. (At least in Germany).
