This is our photo slideshow from Swedens National Day Celebration 2009. (Read more in my earlier post Happy National Day Sweden!)
If you think that peoples faces are not so happy celebrating, it might have something to do with the cold weather…. *giggles*
It’s supposed to be summer over here, but it was only about 10C (50F)!
We loved the Taittinger Champagne, I tasted the Les Folies de la Marquretterie and hubby Taittinger Prelude Grands Crus Brut. Les Folies was a bit more rich in flavor, so it’s definitely the best Taittinger I’ve had – so far.
….and there certainly was nothing wrong with fresh strawberries to go with it!
All the food stalls is not only because of the national day, it’s the 18th year of another tradition here in Stockholm, A taste of Stockholm, which from the beginning was called “The Restaurants Day”.
A small taste of everything Stockholm has to offer is brought to you at Kungsträdgården, the park in the city center. There is no entrance fee and there is different artists performances for free, you only have to pay for your food and drinks.
As you could see in the photos, it’s very popular. Every Stockholmer comes out from their caves (ha ha) and there are lots of tourist both from other places in Sweden and abroad.
We had a really nice day there listening to artists, eating, drinking and even shopping a bit, plus that we succeeded to avoid the rain that was hanging in the air most part of the day.
Cheers for old Sweden!

Chers for Svenska Flaggans dag,the Swedish National Day.
I hope it in a short periode of time would be like the National Day in Norway.
When looking at the two kids, I thinks it’s only matter og some years.
At least: Straberries and Champagne – hege – we know that tradition here in western Scandinavia.
