Stranded in the Island of Skye for the moment without any place to stay for the night. Water on sides of us and now even from the above – but we still LOVE Scotland….

Our journey started somehow doubtful at Prestwick airport, not getting our hired car as we supposed to. They would not take our creditcards and not cash either, so what to do? Had to take a taxi in the middle of the night to our B&B and then back the following morning. A little bit worried about the fact that we had no car, but at last the problems were solved!

The second and third night we were staying at our absolutely favourite scottish castle nearby Inveraray, it is so peaceful and beutiful with an excellent host and hostess, so we’re keep coming back every time.

We’ve been seeing the beutiful landscape of the highlands, magnificent! Driving around mountain after mountain, around the lochs (lakes). If we’re fishermens it would have been the paradise!

The Isle of Skye is a very popular, most visited place and now we know why. They have it all. One of the most beutiful places in the scottish higlands and with a lot of outdoor activities to offer.

We have spotted waterfalls, a lof of birds and seals, but not dolphins or basket sharks – yet! Still hoping to… There is a lot of flowers to! Check out the Skye flora.

And even visited a scottish country hospital in Broadford to remove my stitches from the appendix surgery I had. It is like go in to another time, it was so different from our hospitals in our homecountry. It’s really interesting to see all the differenties in different countrys :-)

About the B&B’s, it’s different standards in them, some of them really really good and some of them less good. We happend to stumble on one of the not so good yesterday, so we had no place to stay. We’re supposed to stay there for two nights, in Uig, north of skye, a really beutiful place, but now we stayed in Portree instead. Not what we aimed for in the beginning but still OK.

Then we could go out and have a meal and listen to some traditional scottish music in the evening, so we enjoyed ourselves!

Now heading for the south of skye to see if we maybe can get some nice B&B for the night there. Wish us luck!

We’ll see when and where we’ll get some internet connection again – see you then…

I have heard that B&B’s can be way different on the British Isles. Soem can be amazing but more often then not they are bit rustic by US standards. We tend to be a step up here.
