On our first trip to Thailand, we visited Bangkok, Krabi/Ao Nang and Chiang Mai. Ao Nang is a really nice little place to chill out and explore the gulf islands like Ko Phi Phi.

The next trip, we started in Chiang Mai, hired an RV and headed north to Chiang Rai, Pai, Chiang Saen, Mae Salong and lots of other small places in the north-west. They are amazing places to visit and so friendly. There’s even a Chinese city on the border with Burma where Nationalists soldiers settled after 1949.

The next trip, we started again in Chiang Mai and explored out to the east and north, visiting the Golden Triangle, Chiang Kong, Chiang Saen, Lamphun and such. A lot of history in this area.

Lately we’ve been trying to spend more time in one place. Last trip we explored all the attractions around Chiang Mai including the craft villages and the mountain parks like Doi Inthanon, but we also managed a week on the beach in Ko Samui.

If anyone is interested to read more about our travels in Thailand, there all described on our travel blog.

Thanks for a great site, which we’re now using to plan our first trip to Europe!
