This is the biggest flower I’ve seen. It’s a Bougainvillea we spotted on our honeymoon on the Greek island Crete 2004. (A wonderful honeymoon island!)
Sorry that it isn’t a better photo, but I took it with the cars there just to have something to compare with, so the flowers have to stand back.
They were every where over the island. Magnificent examples.
Of course we may be more impressed over them than you are, because we don’t have the climate for them over here in Sweden, it’s too cold. We have them as indoors plants if at all.

Love a good bougainvillia, especially when it covers other more ugly things, like a plain fence. The deep red ones are my favourite.

I for one am really impressed!! I think that is HUGE!! We can grow them here in Georgia in the states but I have never seen one that BIG before. Thanks for sharing it with us. Wow… what a monster bougainvillia!!!! i keep thinking I want to plant one… I even bought one once but i let it die in the pot before I got around to planting it….. One of these days…..

Lifecruiser: Yes, I had some thoughts about what to call it, flower or tree, for it’s no bush for sure! *lol* Ahhh, that baby smell is something special! Well, this is a nice weekend here too - still taking care of ourselves and just have it very cozy

My mother had a beautiful one on the corner of her home — in Arizona. I tried one the first year we lived in NC — it did not survive the Winter. But it sure was pretty while it lasted.

That is huge! I’ve never seen one this big either, and they are everywhere here in AZ! They love the heat!
Very impressive indeed, I would hate to see all the thorns on that one!They are very pretty. We had three that my FIL sculpted into an ornamental tree, but they were only about 6 ft at least! Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.

That’s gigantic! Look at the “stems”, it looks like a tree trunk or tree branches at the base. It’s huge!
