My friends and I have completed the 80km race three times now, 2007, 2010, and 2013; it is always a great adventure! As far as I can tell there are not many Americans who participate. It is an incredible sight to see thousands of skaters of all ages skating along the old Viking route.

Yes Tink, I’ve heard of the Elfstedentocht and actually mentioned it in the first paragraph below the photo of the ice skaters, but I guess you missed it

I also did knew that you would spot this post and come here reading and commenting! Always very welcome.

I was even thinking of adding the wikipedia-link to it that you added here, so thank you for that – now it’s here in the comments at least!

Have you heard about the Elfstedentocht in The Netherlands. Every year when the cold finally comes the Dutch start tallking about another one. Unfortunately the last one was in 1997, but I hope we get one again soon! As you know I love the cold.
