1. During 1007 days we did homecooked meals for 899 days and fast food for 108 days (3 times/month). That’s well done of us I think!
2. We have 51 books about cooking – and a bunch of other recipes filed too. Still we’ve almost used the same recipes all the time, but we’re changing that now…
3. We are 2 persons cooking our food together and we’re doing it in a kitchen that has about 7 square meter mobile space, without getting in the way for each other! See the kitchen here.
4. If you happen to found recipes in another language:
Online conversion for cooking so you can convert the recipe figures.
5. Since it’s getting closer to Christmas now, I think you should really check out the Mothers meatballs recipe. That’s a must on the Swedish Christmas dinner table. You must do hundreds of them. They disappear in a furious pace!
6. Swedish crispbread, the noisiest bread ever and my favorite, has been crunched for 250 years now. Not by me though, I’m old, but not that old
7. My favorite food? It’s not possible for me to say since I love hundreds of different kind of food and I would probably changed my mind hundreds of times too
8. You can’t tell by my figure that I love food. I’m picky, but I love to eat food. Often. All the time. At least every 2 hours.
9. Check out An ode to Olives. I could eat millions of Olives. I probably have. I love olives. No – I adore them.
10. There will be zero dinner left overs here.
11. We’ve an old cookbook from 1930, The Princesses cookbook with very interesting recipes.
12. Have one extra tasty drink before dinner, it sharpens your taste. Preferably one with a bitter taste, to really make your taste start from zero again.

Interesting food facts. We have turkey here for Christmas. Actually we seem to have turkey for every holiday..
Lifecruiser: hm… Now we can wonder WHY do you have turkey for every holiday…?
I don’t even eat that if I can avoid it and I’m the hungry monster…. *lol* This hungry monster don’t care so much to eat any bird actually. I just don’t like the taste of bird and I don’t know why, just that it is like that.
I’ll eat it if I’m on dinner somewhere, but I don’t like it.
I love cooking and collecting old cookbooks. I was thinking this year for Christmas gifts that I’d collect all of the family favorites and recipes from ancestors and make them into a real printed book. Now I just need to get motivated and put the book together
Lifecruiser: That’s a wonderful idea actually! I wished that some recipes would be printed down and not just something in my mothers head….. *sigh*
Oh my, I have cooked for more than 30 years, now it’s enough ! I mostly buy vegetables, potatoes, meat and fish already prepared by a cattering service in our Supermarked (really very good and not expensive) then I only have to combine and the only thing I do is cooking rice and pasta and of course steaks or porc shops I have to fry. I am quite happy with this solution and my better (????) half too !
I love Knäckebrot !!!
Lifecruiser: Sounds like a good compromise Gattina Over here that would only be possible in certain supermarkets that lives up to my standards Even though I am the hungry monster, I’m a bit picky when it comes to quality and freshness when it comes to food…
Hi, Hope you are doing well,He!He!He! sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing. There is only one problem,Now I am really hungry, mouth watering and dribbling over keyboard. .
Wish you well
Lifecruiser: Hm… I knew I should have handled out towels too
A wonderful list. I looked at the meatballs and tiny kitchen. Your blog posts are always interesting–one of my favorite regular reads.
My TT is up. http://collectingmythoughts.blogspot.com/2006/11/thursday-thirteen-last-week-i-wrote.html
Lifecruiser: Thanks Norma, I’ll have to return your kind words, your posts are always interesting too and that’s why we keep coming back
Great list. That’s a lot of books on cooking! I’ll pass on the olives though. Not one of my favourite foods. I eat frequently too – not quite every two hours, but I eat small, healthy snacks throughout the days.
Happy T13.
Lifecruiser: Thanks Caylynn Yes, isn’t that many books? I need to start to read them more often to get inspiration to new meals.
A bit picky!! hmmm.. That’s an understatement *lol*
This reminds me of that I was gonna send you a recipe… but..sorry..I don’t remember what!! Do you remember?? *lol*
Lifecruiser: As a punishment for that statement you have to write down that recipe TODAY while I’m visiting Mom, but you don’t have to write it hundreds of times like in school, just one
For once, I actually remember! *proud of myself*
L U S S E B U L L A R ! ! !
I love food and cooking! Those mother’s meatball’s remind me of the food they serve in the Ikea restaurant. Its my favorite, Swedish meatball’s with a red berry saus. Whenever I go to Ikea I buy a kilobag of them ball’s and throw them in the freezer
I also have a cooking book for Scandinavian food, but I never made anything out of it before, I was planning to do that this Christmas or New Year. I especially love the way all the smörebrød (probably spelled wrong ) looks !
Lifecruiser: Yes, but those meatballs are not even half as good as the ones you make on your own!!!!! There are some good stuff, I can imagine, in your Scandinavian cookbook. The smörrebrød is originated Danish and really delicious – in fact mouth watering….. I’m getting hungry here *drooling*
Oops, I hate cooking… **hides under desk**
… but I love food!
My TT is about TV-series.
Lifecruiser: Not even some time? I think you may have had a bad start with cooking then. I was about the same in my youth, but then it kind of grew on me. I think that it may have been that my mother, who is an excellent cook, didn’t have the time and patience to let me try in my pace, so she got impatience on me and that destroyed the fun for me. It took years to repair that “fun feeling”.
I’m 32 and I just started learning how to really cook and bake. I’m having a wonderful time making new things and reading my mum’s thousands of cookbooks!
Happy TT. Mine are up.
Lifecruiser: Yes, i know the feeling, it’s never too late to start. Everyone can cook, more and less. It’s just a matter of starting with simpler things and then continue – just like everything else! and it really is like you’re creating something.
You can be as proud over a dinner meal as you are over some other handcrafted stuff
Wonderful list…I’m hungry now:lol: I agree with you on that one. I love food and have many favorites and it changes all the time (the only constant is pizza). Happy TT!
Lifecruiser: thanks. I’m starving now! We just came home and are going to make dinner as soon as I’m finished with these comments. So actually it’s your fault that I’m starving
For me, I think one thing that will always stay is: Tex Mex food, like Tacos, Nachos, enchiladas and so on. I guess it’s because it’s so completely different from Swedish everyday fare!
I love to cook too. And I try to make new recipes so I don’t get stuck making the same things. I have probably 50 cookbooks. But I only keep half of them in the kitchen.
Good thing I cook, because Hubby is useless in the kitchen! LOL
Lifecruiser: Well, there is a lot of recipes, so we never have to get bored of doing the same thing are we? *lol* Yes, it’s always good if at least one person in the household cook, but even better if both does. We have such nice moments while we’re cooking together
We are planning two very basic meals for the holidays. Since we travel we don’t want leftovers! Turkey for Thanksgiving and a ham for Christmas. This year we will be having our Christmas dinner on the 9th of Dec as that is when the kids will all be here! That is why I am working on getting my gifts done!
I am planning a very low fat meal at least I hope! But there will be the usual yummy’s I am sure!
Lifecruiser: That’s enough I think, better to be practical about it. We are too, having several different things to eat, but very little of it. Even though I’m not quite sure of what we’re doing this year. Things can be decided very late in this family
There is nothing wrong with a little early christmas like the 9th, but it can be a bit stressful to get the gifts ready… I hope you have time to relax in between.
Olives and bree! That’s the way to my heart! Happy TT!
Lifecruiser: I only say this: YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i’m not going to say how many times I’ve eaten out. But then, I don’t cook.
Lifecruiser: Well, it’s never too late to start
You have a really good cooking : eating out ratio! My last 1000 days would not look that good–especially because I was living in NYC 1000 days ago and the restaurants are sooo much better than I could ever make!
Thanks for the fun TT. Happy Thursday!
Lifecruiser: I guess it can be tempting when living in NYC…. We live in Stockholm, that actually have a lot of good restaurants too, but we’re not in the center so we’re kinda lazy to get there…. *s*
I am SO JEALOUS about #8! I’m a foodaholic, LOVE good food. Love Top Chef, cringed at the last House episode. My body SHOWS how much I like food. Now if only I ate healthier food and craved exercise more…
I’ve posted my Thursday Thirteen, too. Enjoy!
Lifecruiser: Don’t mention that last one whispering: exercise… Even though I’m not gaining weight I still need to do that awful thing. Of course I have an excuse with my back, but still I’m forced to do it, it’s not because I like it….
Wait a minute, are we talking about Swedish meatballs here? Yummmm!! Happy TT!
Lifecruiser: Yes, the famous Swedish ones. Irresistible.
Awww, this is just such a great list – congrats on all the home-cooked meals!!
Lifecruiser: Thanks MamaDuck We’re going to eat one right now…. *off to the kitchen*
I enjoyed looking around your blog! (love the hover pictures! COOL!)
Blessings,
Karla
Lifecruiser: Thanks Karla, glad you enjoyed it
I wished I loved to cook. I don’t. Haha!
Lifecruiser: Know and know… You don’t have to – just to follow the recipes, piece of cake if you choose some simpler recipes at first
Wow, I need to get my butt in the kitchen more! You put me to shame!!
Lifecruiser: Yes, get in there and have some fun
You can tell by my figure that I don’t like to cook…but I like to eat…the things I like, lol. Yummy list! I am a terrible cook because Mr. Mar is a terrific one and I decided he should get all the credits. So I collect recipes, I even have a food blog with stolen recipes, love buying food mags, should follow what I heard when I was a young girl (loooong time ago!): if you can read, you can cook!
Guten Appetit!
Liferuiser: Well, who said you can’t be interested in food even though you don’t cook? *s* For us, it’s a nice moment to spend together (as we always are . That is so right you only have to read to follow recipes.
Yes, I’d say that’s pretty darned good! I doubt we’ve done as well (re: #1)…
Lifecruiser: I think that’s the top record for us, we have to eat something else than our own food sometimes!
An interesting list! I would love to learn to cook!
Your kitchen looks really cute, btw!
Lifecruiser: Thanks. Well, why don’t you start? Choose simple recipes at first and then advance – it’s FUN
Lovin’ the cooking thing. Been indulging quite a bit myself lately — now that my hands have healed from my initial kitchen
enthusiasm…
Lifecruiser: Oh, yes,oh my, I remember that…. Well you have a whole new kitchen to explode into work in now
I wish we had done that well with not eating out so much!
I love to cook, but sometimes its just so much WORK…and so little time!
I’m going to have to find some extra time to go through your site and pick through your recipes! So many yummy soundng foods!!!
Lifecruiser: It doesn’t have to take that much time… if choosen simple recipes, but I guess that is very variated in our countries too.
Actually we don’t have that many recipes – yet, but I’m planning on adding some, so do come back
