But being that I hadn’t showered in days, and since I had no other place to wash my despicable self, I endured this mockery of an otherwise classic song that was introduced to me all those years back from that Austin Powers movie. New Zealand is the place to find these seemingly mythical “super-loos,” and I urge you to try at once to find this fecal utopia that is currently unoccupied and awaiting your excrement. No douches, no bidet, simply a singing toilet, an automatic sink and an disembodied, mechanical voice instructing you on how to operate such a contraption. All in all, a recipe for hours of fun.

It was simply a hole in the floor of the cubicle (you could see right through the the tracks below) with spaces for your feet to be places….. very very :-(

I can’t imagine what they have now. I worked with IBM Japan at the time and their toilets were space age. So many buttons to push. Automatic bu-day(sp), warm dryers…..the works….

One time while we were vising a winery in France the only restroom was equivalent to a closet with a light and a hole in the ground. We were traveling through Loire Valley at the time so I figured it was because of our remote location. But with upcoming trips to Germany and China, I have been warned about the advanced toilets in Germany (like the article points out) and the less advanced ones in China. It seems that besides tourist destinations in China a typical restroom will include little more than a hole in the ground, sometimes even requiring you to bring your own toilet paper!

I realised too you can enter in a coffee place without drinking something and using the toilets when you have to do it in France!
