Raindrops in the skye

Posted by Lifecruiser in Travel

Stranded in the Island of Skye for the moment without any place to stay for the night. Water on sides of us and now even from the above - but we still LOVE Scotland….

Our journey started somehow doubtful at Prestwick airport, not getting our hired car as we supposed to. They would not take our creditcards and not cash either, so what to do? Had to take a taxi in the middle of the night to our B&B and then back the following morning. A little bit worried about the fact that we had no car, but at last the problems were solved!

The second and third night we were staying at our absolutely favourite scottish castle nearby Inveraray, it is so peaceful and beutiful with an excellent host and hostess, so we’re keep coming back every time.

We’ve been seeing the beutiful landscape of the highlands, magnificent! Driving around mountain after mountain, around the lochs (lakes). If we’re fishermens it would have been the paradise!

The Isle of Skye is a very popular, most visited place and now we know why. They have it all. One of the most beutiful places in the scottish higlands and with a lot of outdoor activities to offer.

We have spotted waterfalls, a lof of birds and seals, but not dolphins or basket sharks - yet! Still hoping to… There is a lot of flowers to! Check out the Skye flora.

And even visited a scottish country hospital in Broadford to remove my stitches from the appendix surgery I had. It is like go in to another time, it was so different from our hospitals in our homecountry. It’s really interesting to see all the differenties in different countrys :-)

About the B&B’s, it’s different standards in them, some of them really really good and some of them less good. We happend to stumble on one of the not so good yesterday, so we had no place to stay. We’re supposed to stay there for two nights, in Uig, north of skye, a really beutiful place, but now we stayed in Portree instead. Not what we aimed for in the beginning but still OK.

Then we could go out and have a meal and listen to some traditional scottish music in the evening, so we enjoyed ourselves!

Now heading for the south of skye to see if we maybe can get some nice B&B for the night there. Wish us luck!

We’ll see when and where we’ll get some internet connection again - see you then…

Taking a highland tour

Posted by Lifecruiser in Travel

We’re leaving home heading for the Scottish highlands. We’ve been there before but wanted to go back again. It’s a really beutiful landscape and the Scottish people are really nice and friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much last year.

There is so much to see and do over there. The stunning nature, spotting seals - even dolphins if you’re lucky - the old castles, gardens, golf courses and drinking a beer or two at an old pub – could it be more relaxing?

Have you ever seen and heard a bagpiper in real life? It’s both fun and amazing to see them squeeze the bag bringing out loud noises like someone who is killing the cat or something. Fantastic!

This time we’re even taking a ride by an old steam train, the Jacobite, which runs on a outstanding path out to the west coast.

We’ll come back with a full report when we’re home again after the 21th of June, but we’ll even try to send some short reports along the way. Be sure to surf back here!

The oldest flag in the world is Denmarks that is from the year of 1219.

Why don’t take a trip to Scandinavian, Sweden, Stockholm this year? Neither the country or the people is so cold as they say, all is about timing and your own behaviour. Enjoy the Swedish summer with the great nature with nights that never get dark. Try smiling to the swedes and they will be smiling back to you!

The Capital town Stockholm has a great deal to offer when it comes to pleasures. A beautiful little town with great architechture, built on small islands with bridges between them. It’s clean and green with a lot of water surrounding it. Be sure not to miss Stockholm archipelago where you can go by boat.

The laughing fall

Posted by Lifecruiser in Odditys

I didn’t realize how often I normally laugh per day. My near and dear ones must be very funny! I can’t even look at them without feeling like I want to laugh. And right now I can’t and it’s so frustrating it’s killing me! It hurts so in my removed appendix the times when I can’t restrain myself and try to laugh…

I’ve never heard such a silly laughs coming out of my mouth. Try not to laugh and you will hear how you sounds like yourself, you won’t beleive your ears.

It feels a little bit funny to tell my near and dear ones now that they only can call me if they are really really boring…

This made me begin wonder what laugh is. When we laugh changes occur in many parts of our body, even the arm, legs and muscles. The Encyclopedia says that it’s a rhytmic, vocalized, expiratory and involuntary action. Using fifteen facial muscles, struggle to get some oxygen and even tear can appears.

The best of all is that you must respond to laughter - it’s contagious! At least I normally think that, now it’s a plain pain in the ……

It’s easy to take life and health for granted. Had a life and death experience this wednesday when I got appendicitis and urgent had to have a surgeon surf around INSIDE me… One organ less and much happier now when feeling alive again. A little bit sore but hey, I’m still going strong!

Hello life - here I come cruising again :-)
