Thursday Thirteen Strange

Posted by Lifecruiser in Odditys

13 strange things around us…

1. We are the exact opposite to normal people - we actually set our alarm to go off in the evening to get IN bed instead of in the morning to get OUT of bed. We’ve severe get to bed problems.

2. We eat like dinner at breakfast time very often - because we haven’t gone to bed yet! Our staying awake record is 37,5 hours!

3. We sleep in a 35 inches bed and we do it well, we never want to get up from there if we ever end up there at the first place.

4. We don’t go out if we don’t have to in the winter, we’re in hibernation. It have gone a week between the times we sat our feet outdoors. In the summer we’re out all the time instead.

5. We’ve serious hair cutting issues. I haven’t been to the hairdresser for 1 year now. Mr Lifecruiser more than so, but he cheat by cutting himself with a haircutter machine. I don’t have to, because all mine is falling off… Except from the places where I don’t want them to grow, so I’m growing some chic leg sideburns and leg moustaches.

6. Sometimes we find it hard to even take our daily shower. We’re ugly and dirty. Other times we stay in the shower for ages so we get all wrinkled - but that’s of course when we both go in there at the same time….

7. We’re pouring water in to our Coke before we drink it, because we found it too sweet.

8. We have a lot of strange pets. One that I haven’t mentioned before is The Animal:

Lifecruisers animal

9. We’re not travelling for the moment.(Compare last years travel here)

10. We have a neighbour as a Guardian dog. Actually she does the job even better than a dog. No one can pass her without thousands of questions. Heck, we don’t want to pass her either!!!

11. I’m a hungry monster. Mr Lifecruiser just tries to survive by feeding me.

12. We only have one (almost) functional brain together, that’s how we manage. Even though Miss Ass. Lifecruiser don’t even agree that we have one together….

13. We are severe cases of the happy plague:

♥ LIVE, ENJOY, LOVE…. LIFE!

The Memorable Boxer

Posted by Lifecruiser in Pets
Lifecruisers memorable boxer

This was the face of a dog I always will remember. Her name was Memorable, shortened to Able. Why I never understood, because she was all other things but able… Very very clumsy.

My sister took over her from a couple that hadn’t time enough to take care of her and that showed in the dogs behaviour. She was a nervous dog. She pee’d in the house in the nights at first - until she was allowed sleep in their beds, the poor one. She was always around your feet, so it was unavoidable that you sometimes stepped on her paws, she had a strange way of sort of throwing them under your own feet. It’s pretty hard to avoid it then.

She was furious at other dogs they met outside. Just throwed them on the ground with a wrrrooooar that sounded horrible. The “fun” thing was that she was about 98% noise and 2% dangerous. And that 2% was against herself! Because she almost never got to bite the other dog, instead she bit herself in the lips…. It seemed terrible, that noise and the blood - and she was the one ended up hurt every time. Unbelievable. My sister said that the dogs were never hurt, but their owners were in chock and looked like they needed some medical care after the horrible experience…

Able was very irritated at my dog Billy Boy, because she couldn’t get to him and he started to ignore her a bit too and that made her even more frustrated. I remember one time when we’re going out with the dogs. She was nagging on him constantly and we all could see that he was getting really tired of her. He started to warn her sign by sign, first with just some stiff body and angry eyes, then some wrinkling of his lips, after that he really showed his teeth - and she was dumb enough not to listen to him - then he just had an completely outburst against her. And what did she do? Scream like she was killed and he didn’t even scratch her…. We just laughed at it, she had it coming.

Loud noices made her scared. When we were “dogwatching” her once, she was really nervous over all the sudden noices. Our dog never noticed them, but in the end of that time with her, she got him a little bit nervous too - not for the sounds - but he wondered what she was so nervous about!!!

She was with my brother in law at his work during the days. Luckily enough, he was not working at any place where they wear nice clothes or were “sensitive”. Why, you wonder? Well, let me tell you about this dogs capacity to drool…. At lunchtime she was almost drowning in drool. Producing BUBBLES. I’m talking about big expert bubbles, like she had soap in her mouth blowing them out like kids use to. And when she had blowed enough of them, she felt like shaking them off - and all the people in the lunchroom got very happy of all the droolings flying around of course…. She was incredible popular.

Another really memorable thing about her was when she got sick. Something with her stomach, vomiting a lot and didn’t seem to feel so well. They went to the Vet, which only thought it was a gastric catarrh. Then she did throw up a rubber ball and they thought the stomach was irritated because of that ball. So she needed a strict diet with cooked fish and rice mostly. My sister got very tired of that food at that time. This was going on for ages, with several times at the Vet which didn’t find anything wrong.

At last I suggested them to book a appointment at the Veterinary Educational Center, where they have experts Vet teachers. They did. They were doing an x-ray at the dog and found another ball stuck inside her! So they operated her and what did they found? Another ball that didn’t show on the x-ray! All together she had swallowed three balls…!!! Next time my sister went there for a check-up, they had put the balls in a display case in the waiting room, as an example on what they had operated out from dogs…

So shortly after that, Able got to taste a bit from an ice cream. And what did she do? Swallowed the stick too before my sister had time to blink!!! My sister thought it was very embarrassing when she called the Vet to ask if it was likely to come out the natural way this time….? (It did)

When you were out on the beach with her, you had to watch out, because she was rolling big round stones and if she was above you on the cliffs, you’d been in the hitzone! And her way of “swimming” - if you even could call it that. I’m still laughing at the memory. When we throw a wooden stick in the water for our dog to fetch, she always wanted it before him. But she couldn’t swim at all - making very high leg lifts splashing the water in front of her so she couldn’t see where she was going! That splashing and her eyes, what a combination! Every one seeing her were laying on the ground laughing them self to death. She had no chance. But we did noticed that she got better at it with the time, not splashing that much water any longer.

Then we had her absolutely oustanding - or should I say upstanding - style to pee! I don’t know if she thought that she was a male dog or why she did it that way. She lifted her leg against a tree you see - but that wasn’t all! She very often lifted BOTH her pair of legs in the back, balancing on the front pair of her legs for quite a while. Marvelous!

Lifecruisers memorable boxer eyes

So ugly she was with her red eyes peeping at the sides like Marty Feldman, a little pink around the mouth - and the up pointing nose of hers…. And her feet, very long and ugly. What a sight she was!

…and yet so adorable!!!!

So don’t tell me that dogs don’t have any personality.

NOTE: Yeah, I know, I’m totally crazy, but I loved that dog. She was so ugly that she was cute!

Black hole Monday

Lifecruisers black hole monday

This (w)hole day has gone and what have I done?

Well, I did… no… I didn’t actually. But I did… no, I thought I should do that, but I didn’t. I checked my emails, I did.

Then I started to… but the phone rang. I tried to surf a bit during the call, but I don’t know what I read.

The sun was shining, but after looking down at me, she was going indoors too, doing nothing. The skye became cloudy and dark. It began to rain.

I know that I did something useful today, but I’m not remembering what it was. It was something with the blog. Last night I was going through a HUGE list with Plugins for Wordpress, that I might or might not install on this blog. It will happen one day. I think.

Suddenly it was time for cooking dinner. That took a while. And to eat it. That was the most important part. To get stuffed. I did that. Really well. I’m good at that. The best.

I surfed and read, surfed and read. Mostly about my lack of iron, but also other blog stuff. A lot of blog stuff. As usual. And that takes time. I’m really good at getting stucked at surfing. The best.

Then I kissed Mr Lifecruiser. And kissed. And kissed. And… That took quite a while too. This is priority stuff #1 here, so everything else have to wait. I’m good at that. Really good. The best.

Then I totally forgot about make my TODAY POSTING! Oh, shock!!!!!

So here it is, the black hole post. The post that isn’t a post, it’s just a black empty hole. OK, maybe with a little smoke around it…. It’s all yours.

*gone in the smoke of the gun*

Secret whisper: But you can’t be too sure of where the smoke comes from, maybe it’s actually from all the…..

This is the first nice and cozy thing my feet meets in the morning….
The sheep fur is from an male sheep from Gotland, Fårö (translated: Sheep Island) outside the east coast of Sweden. We bought it there from a local farmer on a small market. As usual Mr Lifecruiser had quite a negotiation about the price, he always enjoys that.

Thursday Thirteen Easter Eggs

Posted by Lifecruiser in Odditys

The Easter Egg Hidden secrets in softweird’s like us:

1. Decorated eggs are much older than Easter, and both eggs and rabbits are age-old fertility symbols. - So I guess that is a pointer what we’ll be doing this Easter holiday ;-)

2. Easter Bunny leaves baskets of treats (including Easter eggs and assorted chocolates and candy) on Easter morning for good children. Sometimes children leave out carrots for the Easter Bunny. - I’m gonna be the bunny with the basket with treats to Mr Lifecruiser, but this bunny want’s no carrot…

3. No Jelly Eggs here, don’t like them! I crave for licorice!

4. Easter tradition is to eat a lot of eggs, so there will naturally be a lot of rotten egg smelling farts here, as you already may have figured out. *lol*

5. We may forget totally about this whole Easter thing, you never know with us, since we are suffering from a very severe dementia (or maybe Altzheimers) both of us.

Lifecruisers eggmooning

6. Maundy Thursday Swedish children dress up as little Easter witches and knock on doors to wish people a happy Easter with home-made Easter cards, usually getting some small sweets in return. We’re planning to do something too, butt in another shape.

Do you think we’ll get some sweets….?

7. There will be no yellow chick’s here. Except one. And that’s not me!

8. It can be a certain risk of sounding like a hen and roaster in the mornings here in Easter, but what the heck, it’s no big difference - we don’t understand what the other one says other mornings either! It’s very practical, we’re talking about totally different things and manage to answer each other and no one understands a thing. Usually we end up giggling, this time we may end up cackle or clucking.

9. Or maybe I will just be brooding in my nest all the holiday…

10. In this house the feather decorations is used to something else. Guess what…?

11. No sunday Mass in the morning and no Easter party in the evening. Except for a little one by ourselves… And there will be no rolling of eggs involved then.

12. If there is one, we gonna be in the eggheaven.

13. Puss i Påsk ;-)

Butterfly species

Posted by Lifecruiser in Odditys, Photo
Lifecruisers hugs

WHY, why, am I so damn curious????!!!

I was looking at old photos and uploaded some of our photos of butterflies the other day. They are some tropical butterflies from a known indoors butterfly garden called Hagaparken here in Sweden. Not Swedish butterflies with other words.

And of course, I can’t just leave it like this… I just HAVE to know what species we’ve captured with our cameras… and that is a time consuming work if I shall look it up on the internet, as it looks right now. And that was not what I planned to do right now, but I’m stubborn as a red pig, so….

Any one that can tip us of a really good site with butterfly species? Some kind of database with photos of different butterfly species would be the best of course.

The website of the butterfly garden don’t show the species, so I guess, in “worst case”, we have to go back there to buy some broschure of them….

Lifecruisers butterfly photos

Update note: I read some where now that worldwide, there are approximately 28,000 species! It may take me a while to find these ones then ;-) There are about 725 species in the USA and Canada. About 2,000 species have been found in Mexico. About 80% of all species are in the tropics.

Cruise list: Leslie, Martin, and Napfisk.
