[ANTHOCARIS CARDAMINES, Pieridae]
Swedish: Aurorafjäril

From Europe. This one was captured at the island Fårö outside Swedens east coast in May another year. Width of wing 4cm. The male has bright orange spots on the front wings.

One of the seasons earliest hatched butterflies.

I’ve never seen it here in Stockholm, but of course there isn’t that much spieces in the city area…

If you like butterflies, read Lifecruisers post about:
To make butterfly love.

ekorre 002

European Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)
Swedish: Ekorre

This one captured in Stockholm where we lives (right outside our apartment building), the capital of Sweden. Length up to 24-30 cm except for the tail that is 17-20 cm. Weight 300-390 g.

Sad thing is: we saw a squirrel nearby here the other day that had been run over by a car and I instantly said to Mr L: Oh, no, I do hope it wasn’t our squirrel that use to entertain us outside our windows!

Good news is: it wasn’t that squirrel, because we saw it yesterday, butt now I’m thinking like, hm, I hope that it wasn’t the hubby or wife to that squirrel… *silly me*

Another 2 visitours in May we’re sure of is:

1) To Uppsala later when they celebrate Carl Linneaus birthday 20-27 of May.

2) More south in Sweden to have a look where Mr Lifecruisers grandparents lived once, at Liljesta Mansion.

Today we’re going out for the rest of the day, doing some minor visitours ourselves :-)

Squirrels are my favourite animals. I also love the word “squirrel” – in Polish it sounds even better: wiewiórka. :) ))
I always wanted to have hair exactly the same colour as squirrels’ fur. Well. at least I can dye it. :)

I hope you have a wonderful day of visiting.

Hubby is out of town through Thursday so I am keeping busy redoing one of the rooms in my house! I will post on it tomorrow when done!

I don’t have many squirrels in my yard but I do have a cute family of chipmunks that live in the hole under my bed border. The cats and watch them run up and down the side walk. I am hoping to capture them soon. They are still a bit people shy! I am going to try and coax them out with some seeds!

My yard is busting out in color and I am loving it. If not too tired after my painting I have some lilies and hyacinth to plant. Time will tell if I am up to all that today!

Take care my friend and have fun!

The Red Squirrel photo is great! I love how they can just hang upside down like that! It looks like they would fall off, but they just keep holding on tight! LOL!! :)

I came only today at the zoo because yesterday I didn’t find the article and as Gattina said me come and visit the zoo I came back at the first visit int the town and found the entry!
I am drinking a whisky at this moment waiting the results of the president election in France! I’m a little nervous as many french people!

The photos are great. I relize that it’s first and foremost talent that goes into taking such shots but out of curiosity what sort of camera do you use to catch such beautiful shots?

Thanks. The first one I’m not sure which camera was used, one of our more ordinary “point-and-shoot” digital cameras. The other one is taken with an SLR-like camera, Samsung DigiMax Pro 815 – which I sold because it was too heavy for me to carry around so now I’m going to buy a new one sooon :-)
