5 Tip Top Beaches of Lifecruiser

  1. Elafonisi, Crete, Greece

The most crystal clear water we’ve ever seen and shallow water. The water had glittering stripes in it too and at some spots the sand was colored from corals, which also has given it the name “the pink beach”. (This photo really don’t do it justice!)
  2. Sudersand, Fårö island, Sweden

The most excellent fine sand quality, some really nice sand dunes, about 2 km long, shallow water. Even favorite for windsurfers and kitesurfers. You can hire pedal boats and water scooters too.
  3. Monte Gordo, Algarve, Portugal
    algarve-062

The most excellent fine sand quality, extremely long beach with many beach bars and restaurants for this hungry monster stomach ;-)
  4. Ponta Negra, Brazil

The warm climate is a big bonus together with the winds so you don’t have to sweat too much, pretty nice sand quality, a very long beach, enough shallow, waves to play with, salesmen with Caipirinha’s (cheers!) and other yummy stuff.
  5. Sylt, Germany

Many beaches at the shoreline of this island with some beach strolls and bars above the beach. Be aware though that it’s total freedom there, no one lifts an eyebrow if you’re naked on the beach.

Interesting enough is that in a Swedish newspaper earlier, the readers got to suggest the top 3 beaches in the world and two of my own choices were among those top 3.

That was Sudersand and Elafonisi, but Sudersand as number 2 and Elafonisi as number 3, which I don’t agree with. Even though I love Sudersand since it’s on our beloved Fårö, I must honestly tell you that Elafonisi’s gorgeous crystal clear water beats Sudersand’s.

Sudersand and Monte Gordo though share that excellent fine sand quality, with some really nice sand dunes and has more possibilities to buy something to eat while there at the beach.

So what was #1 beach they voted, that isn’t on my list?

That was Tulum, Mexico. South of the most popular tourist places Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It’s faces towards the Caribbean Sea, so how can the other ones compete against that?

I’m sure though that there is many other beaches that is equally wonderful and I really hope that we’re going to be able to experience some of them ourselves!

You have no idea how much I enjoy reading your blog - the fantastic photos you post of places in Sweden and around the world! I’ve always told my kids that if you read, you can take trips around the world and never leave the warmth and comfort of your favorite chair or place on the sofa and now, through your blogs, you are proving my point precisely!
Keep up all the great posts and pictures. Love it!

I lived in Tasmania for many year while young and the beaches there rival anything I’ve seen as an adult with varied coastline depending on where you are. I surf though so I may biased.

I have been to beaches in Hawaii, and they are spectacular if you surf, Costa Rica, Chile, Spain, Venezuela , Brazil the Caribbean etc and each has something special, even the beach on the rocky coast of Maine. If I had to get stuck at one forever it would be a beach somewhere in Tasmania or Australia but I’m easy.

I’ve never been to Crete, that looks interesting.

This all makes me very sad I have no vacation for some time. ;(

Cancun is great, but it’s become so famous and popular as a holiday resort that it’s just too crowded to have some peace and relaxation, even on the beach. I’d prefer a beach in a less well known place where there isn’t a single tourist in sight anywhere…

Aaaah the perfect post for this time of year I think! When we are all getting a bit tired of the winter and feel that spring is soon on its way. I love beaches, always have. My parents used to say I was half fish as a child because I just wanted to be in the water all the time…thanks for the good memories!
