Fishing Cottage BBQ

IMG_3857

Thursday evening we had the BBQ down at Per’s old fishing cottage by the Baltic sea, an annual event which is very popular. This is summer BBQ when it is as the best, I promise you.

Jösses Pojkar plus one half of Scandimaniacs, Emil and Lisa who has Galleri Tovat, came to the party as well, which made it even more memorable. Those nice guys where entertaining us playing music and telling jokes as well and even Lisa did sing some songs for us.

You know those evings when everybody contribute with something, music, songs, jokes, food and drinks and laughs of simple joy.

A new guest arrived, a friend to Per, in his new home built car - very cool don’t you think?

IMG_3854

Per had prepared for this party, taking tables and chairs down there there on his three-wheeled motorcycle over the meadows, plus that he had smoked some Salmons and Whitefish (Coregonidae) that he has got earlier.

Per’s genius home built smoke arrangement for fish. Mostly he use it to make smoked Flounder. We have eaten it several times this summer. I can tell you that the result is simply delicious! *mouthwatering*

Per told us all how much he enjoys those kind of evenings, he really lives up then. He really was the youngest among us - in the mind. I think he was the merriest of us this evening. What a joy to see!

OK, I admit, there where a lot of drinking too this evening, but no one got too drunk and the most yummy where our pre-drink: a taste of the Bollinger Champagne Jane got for her birthday from us and shared with us.

Cheers my dears!

This seems to be a yearly blast - an evening worth travelling to from long distance. I like the idea everybody had to participate in the entertainment. And Per’s dedication to this event is fantastic and impressing. Not to speak about his smoked fish. I would once taste it.
    Champagne? Why? *Giggles*

Sorry, I was too far away this Saturday - was at a outdoor consert:

Smoked fish is amazing. Actually, anything smoked is amazing. I’m curious to know how he made that smoker. Getting a homemade smoker project might be something that I’m willing to try.

    Very nice looking blog, btw.

These kind of summer events are so dear, almost priceless or like a thrill money can’t buy. Thanks for sharing this treasurable moment with us!

I was impressed by the car too, not to mention the home built smoke arrangement for fish. I remember a friend of mine brought one (I think it was Fiskars) at the cottage by the sea we had a long time ago. After fishing mackerel, we had a great time smoking and eating it.

Talking about Accordion: We where at a Accordion festival in Mariestad some weeks ago. Just click my last post and listen to the great music!

That fish smoker looks very similar to ours. We use it to smoke homemade sausages, as well as make beef jerky and smoked fish.

What a wonderful evening, sitting outside in the fresh air, surrounded by friends, and having champagne and a party! Our summer has been so poor this year that I can hardly remember sitting outside at all, never mind having a party! I’m so glad you had a lovely time.

Your article and pictures give such a good feeling. I love such lazy BBQ evenings with friends. It’s really so casual all to their own, singing and dancing and having only FUN. We use to have a lot of these some years back. But now we all friends hardly get time……but after reading your mail I feel like reliving those moments. I am definitely planning a similar evening this weekend.
