I’m going bald…

For a time now I’ve been loosing a lot of hair. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot! Big wads of hair is coming lose all the time, especially when I’m washing my hair. Imagine the feeling when you’re holding your whole hand FULL of hair suddenly. It’s a big lump, not separate hairs. You haven’t been dragging in the hair, it’s just there when you’re washing it. Every time you’ve been washing it for a long while. I’m not sure for how long.

I’m not exaggerating. It’s really scary.

Mr Lifecruiser has seen a very hairy back of me lately… I’m worse than a monkey, despite the fact that I don’t eat bananas, want to pick lices in Mr Lifecruisers fur and don’t feel an urge to swing in the trees. It’s hair coming lose all the time and it’s stuck on my sweater.

First I didn’t think much about it, because there are always periods in your life when you lose more hair than usual. I’m used to it, since I almost always have had a rather long hair. You always lose some hair. But this, I’ve never seen something like this, it’s like I had false hair that come lose. When I put a ribbon in my hair, the same one that I’ve always been using, there is a hole, it woun’t stay there, because there isn’t much hair left. I can say that it must be at least HALF of my hair amount that has come lose, it feels like I only have a third of it left….

So, first it was my back that went bad, then my brain shrinked and I was wondering what next? Well, I guess I have the answer on that one now: my hair is gone too!

Mr Lifecruiser and I’m very much alike and he don’t have much hair – must I always imitate him in everything…?

My hair has always been my greatest pride, so this is tough on me, but I’m sure going to try to find out why, even though I don’t have any confidence in doctors anymore. I’ve met too many bad ones so far. It can be many reasons for loosing hair, so I’m not guessing at this point, we’ll see what they say and do, what examinations they want to do. Probably nothing as my experience with them are, but you’ll never know, maybe they’ll surprise me this time?

I have the most wonderful life with Mr Lifecruiser anyway, so what if I lose ALL my hair? Who cares, as long as we’re together?

What’s HAIR comparing to LIFE? Nothing!

I will get some really cool nickname instead, anyone having some suggestions…?

Have you had your thyroid checked? That’s one of the symptoms I had when my thyroid stopped functioning. But I’ve always had thin hair anyway. My brother got the good hair, blonde and really thick. He’s four years older than me and still gets carded in bars.

No, sisiggy I haven’t have that checked now, they did check it several years ago without any remarks. That was one of the thing I would suggest my self for them to check, but also for shortage of B-vitamins – that also is a symptom of thyroid. My sister have that problem and have been very ill from it. They have a lot of problem to give her the right dose appearantly. She is a little better now, got some new medicine, so we’ll see. It takes times to see any effect of the medicines as you probably know.
    Thanks for your concern :-)

Well, isn’t that a very fine name Miss Ass. Lifecruiser? You should be proud of it :-)
I guess that it can cause some misunderstandings…. It depends on what imagination people have, how they interpret it!

Don’t worry, bald women like bald men are very sexy. Besides think of how convenient it would be not having to do all those things women do to their hair. Just don’t have something like “please feed the hungry monster” tatooed on the pate.
I think Miss Ass. is a very nice nickname. But then I think anything that connects women with Ass. is very nice.

Have you talked to your doctor about this?
The question I have is hair growing in to replace it?
I used to be worried about hair loss until I got more health oriented and decided my over all health was more important.
I’m sure if you were to loose it all it would make no difference.
    You’d still look great.

i can’t help you on this one. i do not know why a person would loose a lot of hair. if your husband doesn’t mind then you may be o.k. lets just hope you do not loose all of it. i am not loosing mine but it sure is getting gray.

Thanks for your nice words guys :-)

No, Walker, I haven’t seen the doctor yet, wanted to catch our former doctor that has quitted his position :-( first, to see if he can recommend some one else that is really GOOD. I’m tired of meeting disrespectful doctors.
No, it doesn’t seem to grow out new ones, so far.

Well, Mr Haney, I have a lot of grey hair already too, it runs in the family, but because my hair isn’t so dark, it’s not shown so much. And that doesn’t bother me at all.

Yes, sharlet I will have it checked, better to do that and get to know. Thanks for your concern :-)

Is your hair naturally curly? If not, DON’T perm it anymore…really cut back on any kind of processing, and reduce stress in your life where you can. I had the same trouble myself a few years back, and although the amount of my hair is much reduced from what it was, it DID stop falling out after I stopped frosting/foiling and changed my very hectic work schedule.

Thanks for the advice Robin, I’m not sure of anything so far. I do perm my hair but very very seldom and it was a long time ago now and the problem increased a couple of months ago when nothing had been done to the hair.
Stress? I don’t know if it’s that hectic, mostly it’s people around us having problem in that case and that’s kind of stressing…
Maybe if chronical pain can cause stress somehow but why would it start now, there is nothing new for me that have happened.
I was wondering myself if maybe when we was abroad in 6 Nov- 11 Dec and I was ill could have affected this, but why would it start so long after?
If the doc’s not giving my the right test or answers I’m going to laborate on my own, because I’m pretty sure it’s it can be helped a little with extra B-vitamines (and a lot of others) or whatever I can find to improve the situation.
Maybe go to an hair analyst or something. I will check it up.
