The Cliffs of the Giants (Acantilados de los Gigantes) is a very popular tourist attraction in Tenerife’s west coast. It’s very spectacular massive rock cliffs in the Atlantic ocean with a height of about 500-600m.
There is a resort town of Los Gigantes down there with a small port and lots of restaurants.
If we had arrived earlier that day, we would have tried to get out in a boat to see them from the seaside. I’m sure that’s the only way to understand how majestic they really are.
I’ve read somewhere that ancestors considered them to be sacred and that the world ended there.
It didn’t really felt like that for us, since we were on our way to explore the rest of the island after that…

Pretty steep drop. View’s great, but if you have vertigo, you better stay away from Los Gigantes. Or it could really end your world.
Boy, just looking at the cliffs from the angle of your shot -they look pretty doggone majestic to me! Love the pictures and really appreciate your “virtual tours” of places you have visited.
So beautiful! That would be awesome to see the cliffs from a boat. So much to this world it is amazing! I’m loving all your stories!!! I’m slowly but surely reading as many posts as I can in between the kids being sick. Sicknesses are going around again from the schools. ugh!
When I saw them first I was sooooo impressed. At that time there wasn’t any resort there and hardly one or two hotels. It was a very romantic little port village with not a lot of tourists. But here I am talking of 1992 ! It looks as if it has changed a lot !
