We have been waiting for great weather to take a trip up to the mountains and Teide – it is on the world heritage list – but the time was running out and the weather did not seem to improve that much.

Every morning it has been very cloudy over Teide and of course that is not so strange since its peak reaches a height of 3718 m above sea level!

So what to do? We did take a chance that the weather would at least let us see anything up there, so we did drive up in the mountains anyway.

It is a very beautiful way up there and we were very impressed by the great roads leading there, not at all as scary as the narrow mountains at Crete island in Greece. Though we could not see much of what must be a wonderful scenery since it became very foggy once we reached some heights.

When we reached the point where the cableway starts, we were very, very lucky because it was clouds hiding the Teide peak, but when we got out of the car and stood there in the unbelievable moon landscape (about 2356 m above sea level), the clouds suddenly went away offering us the most excellent view!

I tell you, that is Mr Lifecruisers incredible luck he always has, not my bad luck that I always have… *giggles*

It was very cold at that height and I had my winterjacket on, I would not have belived that I should get use of that one here at Tenerife.

Unfortunately we were arriving too late to go up in the cableway, but just to have been there seeing this unreal landscape was enough for us. The cableway did not look that scary even to us that is afraid of heights.

We have been driving around on almost all roads in Tenerife and up and down at very curvy mountain roads, seeing the most beautiful views. I will try to show you some photos of them later, even though it is quite difficult to see it like you do with your own eyes.

Other from that we have seen small nice cities and villages, like La Orotava, La Laguna and Garachico with many beautiful old historical buildings.

There are many minor beaches here at the island, but not so many that we find that beautiful, we are quite spoiled with the best beaches at our summer paradise island in Sweden.

Yesterday evening were our last roadtrip since it was our last day with the rental car. We tried to take another parallell road with the motorway TF-1 here at the east coast, but oh boy was it a curvy one up in the mountain too and it was dark. Only the moon did light up our way!

We have been fighting to get around to make travel reports, Mr Lifecruiser has been having a bad cold for days now and I have got it too now, plus some minor stomach bug.

Imagine him with a running nose and me running on the toilet! Such a nice couple! Though I am glad that I managed through the mountains without having to go…. *giggles*

I will write proper travel reports when we have come home again, we are leaving early Tuesday morning.

You know it’s not worthwhile to go up to the Teide with the cable car especially when the weather is not nice, you don’t see much more than from where you have been. Each time we went to Teneriffe, (at least 6 or 7 times) we went visiting the Teide, I can’t get enough of the moon landscape there. Did you know that it was often used as scenery for movies, the 10 commendments for example and another one, Star Trek or War i don’t remember.
I am very curious to see your pictures ! at that time I filmed everything and have no photos at all !

This road trip with all it’s circling up the mountain sounds similar to the road to Haleakala on Maui. Can’t wait to see the photos!

Most important: You made it back to home.
Must have been terrible. The last days.
I can’t imagine the 2 of you fully dressed in a tiny bed.
Abnormal. You must have been and felt terrible.

My Nightmare is to be on a long distance flight with s stomach “flu”.
On tourist class in a 747 “Jumbo”.

As we say: East and West, Home is Best.
I will not refere to: All that Ends Well — *giggles*

Hope to hear you soon are back to normal.

    Greetings
