Mrs Lifecruisers contribution to theme On The Road
In a Jeep on the Greek island Crete 2004. Down in the low hill landscape - otherwise there is stunningly beautiful, high, narrow mountain roads (no fences!), which made me covered in sweat every time we arrived at our goal.
Not for sensitive persons:
Mr Lifecruiser had nightmares about falling from the loose edges. We almost succeeded once when we came around a mountain (height 1600 m/5250 ft) and the wind grabbed the roof (fabric) of the jeep and almost swept us away down the mountain side! Mr Lifecruiser had to step on the acccelerator to avoid it. That was a little bit too close of being blown away! I had no intention to start a new trend of Jeep surfing…

NOTE: Every comment is equally welcome, even if you’re not participating in this Photo Hunt-thing, we LOVE all comments :-)

Yikes, that would scare me as well. I don’t handle even 2 story malls well; much less a road like that. But I’m sure the scenery was gorgeous!

I played for the first time this week too.

Lifecruiser: I know, we’re afraid of heights too, both of us!

I guess I have to cross Crete off my list. You probably need to keep your eyes open to enjoy the experience and I’m afraid that would be impossible for me. Well, not without the screams of terror, which tends to rattle whomever is driving, WHICH WE DON’T WANT TO DO AT ALL COSTS!

Lifecruiser: Or, you could just drive on the so called National road from east to west, no mountains in the way there….

Another awesome pic from Mrs. Lifecruiser, as always!

I would be a NERVOUS wreck riding up that mountain… I’m not fond of 2 lane roads! And windy, mountain roads w/no lines in the road… even worse! ha! I’d want to cover my eyes w/a pillow, but the scenery is so beautiful that i’d have a hard time figuring out what to do!! ha!

    Have a great weekend!! ♥

Lifecruiser: Thanks froggie mama, let me tell you that I was closing my eyes sometimes. And very foten I leaned over away from the edge when sitting in the jeep. As it would help… *lol* Hope your weekend is great too!

Great photo! There are many of these same sort of roads in Morocco - lots of close moments!

Lifecruiser: Pheewww…. Let’s not go there, not these two places after each other at least, we need to calm down in between ;-)

Great shot. I love the shadow of the jeep - it sort of helps show how steep the angle was that you were traveling.

The photos are always beautiful here. :)

Lifecruiser: Thank you Tricia :-) Yes, I love the shadow too, you can actually see us sitting there too if you look close :-)

Ok, I got worried last night because I didn’t check out your photo - but I was too tired to open the computer anymore. And then you had visited me! Thanks for stopping by :)

I was once down at Crete. It was… hold on… Must have been 1985! Wow, that makes me feel old! I hate those mountain roads - they make me sick to my stomach - and that’s why I avoid the northern parts of Sweden and Norway too…

Lifecruiser: I guess I’m just dumb as a donkey - I hate the heights but can’t resist the mountains beauty :-) I avoid the northern parts of Sweden mostly because of the short summer they have - and all the awful mosquitos they have.
